Evaluations

Evaluation & Assessment

The Human Movement System (HMS), sometimes called the Kinetic Chain, is made of the nervous, skeletal, and muscular systems. A misalignment of one or more components of the HMS causes predictable dysfunctions to develop over time. Even if we we’re born perfect, living our lives requires repetitive motions and static postures, which cause Muscle Imbalances. Wearing shoes with heels, sitting for prolonged periods, or any repetitive motion or long held static posture will have an effect on the body. Muscle imbalances cause poor posture, improper joint mechanics, and ultimately, injury. In the evaluation, I will have you perform a few simple and easy assessments, such as the Overhead Squat Assessment, to check for muscle imbalances, altered reciprocal inhibition, synergistic dominance, and arthrokinetic dysfunction. We do the best we can to make sure the joints are moving properly, and if not, we work to correct it and reduce the risk of injury. Other evaluations could be used depending on your goals. We may want to measure how fast, how often, how long, how high, how far, how hard, recovery time, or whatever you need to ensure you’re progressing the way you want.

Why Do I need an Evaluation?

We need to know where you are currently in order to get you where you want to be. This will allow us to ensure we tailor a plan perfectly for you. It helps avoid injury, tailor correct exercise regiments, and dietary suggestions.
